    Posted: 06/04/2012 at 10:12pm
Hi All,

I started a new project this past weekend.  I am building with and for my 12 year old nephew, a 12 foot kayak.  It is a small project that I hope we can finish by the end of the summer.  I ordered plans from Chesapeak Light Craft (CLC) for a stitch & glue hybrid model.  It should be a fun project for both of us!

Way to go Dan.  Just downright excellent.  Teach them while they're young.  They won't forget and will be better for it.  Clap Clap Clap

Cool, looks like a fun project. I sure wish I was closer to you so I could POSSIBLY sit in for a bit just to watch you work....I didn't even know wood could do the stuff you make it do!

Now ain't that the truth and I've seen a few guys on this forum who do WONDERS with wood (and metal). I can never seem to get it loose from that storage bin of water, rocks and mud they say is a brain in me to my hands (well except for ideas and wiring I guess) LOL

Bobby & I made some good progress this weekend.  Spent the time in the basement (should have taken out the toon)!  He is very excited with his soon-to-be kayak.  We should be fiberglassing the hull on his next visit in a couple of weeks.

I'd end up with firewood and from the looks of it, I'd barely get warm during the winter Ouch. Can't wait to see the finished product Big smile

Looks like a fun project too. Can't wait to see the finished kayak. Which epoxy are you using?

I am partial to MAS epoxy.  I used that brand for my entire pontoon.

Looks like a great project. Something Bobby will remember Uncle Dan for, for the rest of his life. Priceless!
