I am unhappy with the anchor I chose after I lost my Danforth and I plan to buy either another Danforth or a Digger anchor. I always use a 4' length of chain with the Danforth.

I'll be on a 150 acre lake and probably not anchor in water over 20' deep. I want to hold the 18' pontoon in some wind while I fish. Any comments?

I'm a BIG fan of my Digger anchors... but that is largely due to the fact that the bottom of my lake is covered in vegetation and the Digger is about the only anchor that will come up "clean".

There are anchors out there that will hold better with my bottom configuration....  but it takes a half of an hour to clean them off after use.  And of course, I'd be drifting while I'm cleaning them.

Thanks SunBlocker. Our lake is mostly clay bottom. Actually, we anglers would like to see a few weeds.

I have also heard really good things about box anchors. I have many friend that used them and love them. they are supposed to not get hung up during retrieval.

I also have a river anchor that came with another boat, but I think it's only 10 lb. We don't have current here, but the lake lies east to west and sometimes that west wind kicks up pretty good.
