My buddy Ricky has a 5yr old grandson name Elijah and he got his first experience catching a fish at some pond. So Ricky had him practicing casting and said we'd take him fishing with us in the boat. Gonna post some pics of his fish (and one for me) then tell the rest of the story.

Caught a small bass but my 5yr old fishing Elijah started wailing on me big time LOL

This last one was the biggest of his catch. He still doesn't have the technique down pat to hooking fish (raise rod up to set the hook then reel), sometimes he kinda sleeps behind the wheel and more interested in what everyone else is doing except watching his cork, but he still put a whopping on me big time LOL. It was his very first fishing boat trip and grandpa said when they got home he ask "are we going fishing tomorrow?"

I'm telling ya, this 5yr old had the fishing lingo down pat by the end of 3hrs. He was cutting on me BAD. He caught the biggest fish (keeper fish) and MORE fish - he put the emphasis on MORE MORE fish than us grownups LOL.  Oh yeah, this boy will be hard to be around in 2 yrs at this pace LOL. But I tell ya, we definitely had fun although the winds started wailing on us which made it really hard to keep on a spot so the boy could fish. But I think his attention span was played out by the time we called it a day, but that's ok. It was priceless to see his face on the first fish he caught all by himself Hug

Great job WildCat, you will have a friend for life with that little one. I still hear the story in my family about my Uncle taking me fishing at that age and me putting my catch in my pocket. Nobody was taking it away from me.

well I can't really take the credit, as he was just competing with me LOL. All the credit goes to his grandpaw Ricky who coached him on casting and watching that cork. I'm thinking we'll have him handling and unhooking the fish by next year LOL
