We have started a toons up restoration on THE FLOATER (1994 Tracker Party Barge). I was lucky enough to win a full rebuild from a forum that I am on. So with the help of Pontoon Stuff I have already gotten most of the parts that I need. Dealing with James, Annette, Ty and the others has been wonderful! Top notch service! The seats are very comfortable, I put one couch together to see how it looks, and the captains chair. The cooler is huge. With the drain pointing to the rear and with risers on the fence it should drain without have to drill a hole in the deck and putting a hose on it.
I actually made it down to the lake on Saturday and started pulling her apart. She was in worst shape than I thought. 3 pontoon seats wouldn't have lasted the year, the deck maybe two more in some spots. Perfect timing! I did realize I will need some more items once she is going back together, I guess that shows you can never think of everything. We didn't run into any issues really until we got to the decking. Carpet was really stuck even after 20 years! The screws just disentegrated when we tried to take them out. So I used a trick I learned on another forum and used a hole saw to cut around the screws. The wood lifted right off. We will come back later and sawzall the screws off, strip the old tar joint tape off and start putting her back together all and all it took two of us around 6 hours so far, using battery and generator power, more updates to come in a couple of weeks. I will need to get a new top mount controller for the new console. So far I found the cheapest at 179. I did get gauges out of the old helm so hopefully install those this week sometime more pics to come

Jim, Annette & Ty have been great in helping me with my pontoon rebuild too. I've been dealing with them since 2009 & have always found them to be very helpful kind caring people to deal with. I'm sure you will be pleased with the end results of your rebuild. Keep us posted on your rebuild.

Got bored last night. Installed radio, the usb mode found everyfolder on my phone it is totally awesome! You can browse folders and shuffle all with the remote. hooked up lights just for the heck of it too. I got all the lights to work on the old gauges and will start mounting them tonight, I put templates up. The fish finder I am not sure on I may trim the windshield once I get ready to mount it just haven't decided yet

Looks great and congrats on the rebuild win. Wish I could have luck like that. How strudy is the front nose of the boat, where it comes to a point. I have a 89 party barge that I am going to bebuild this spring with the same V nose and it is kinda spongy and flexes when you step on it. I'm not sure if it's a design flaw and all of them are similar or I just need to beef it up a bit. I was thinking of just making it straight across at the front.

Stomper,
Thanks! It does make a guy pretty humble when you win something like that!!! Thanks Again PontoonStuff!
I never noticed any spongeyness maybe just a litte but nothing to ever bother me.... The wood only went 6 inches past the last of the frame. I think it would be too hard to square up and change the fencing...
More pics to come.

Well my son in law and I got the speakers installed in the corner bases and after we were done we just weren't happy until we heard them play.....
![]() The Radio sounds awesome by the way!
So we built the entire front section of benches got out the console hooked everything up to a battery and had a 5 hour run of dry boating in the living room!!
I did find out that one of my 38 in seats was missing hardware, and the plastic shipping protection, there was no damage, but will contact Ty to maybe send some hardware.
We had a blast! 12 more inches of snow coming tonight, so it'll be awhile before we get anymore work done..

Heading down Saturday to finish demo 40 % chance of scattered showers but I don't care! Hopefully get all the wood off, the bolts cut and the old tar tape off the joists. I know it is 8 days out but next Saturday looks to be in 70's maybe new wood and carpet....

Good luck!!!! I can't wait to get my furniture re covered or order new. This has been a fun project but I need it to end. Since you just went through it and I see a lot of people doing it I'll just ask. Is it cheaper to buy new furniture or get the old recovered? My furniture is in great shape with the exception the vynal is cracking. I tend to believe it will be hard to find furniture to fit mine as the corners are shaped differently that the corners on the new furnture.
I am going to take and get an estimate to recover what I have, but if you guys have experience in this area please give it up.

Well Wal,
I started the thread with an explanation.
I was lucky enough to win a full rebuild from a forum that I am on. So with the help of Pontoon Stuff I have already gotten most of the parts that I need. Dealing with James, Annette, Ty and the others has been wonderful! Top notch service
Needless to say if I had to make a choice between buying and recovering I would buy new if I hadn't been so lucky!! My wood frames were so waterlogged I was totally suprised. I know they got wet but had no idea. I certainly wouldn't have been able to do everything at once like I am now. ONce it is all totalled you could say I won a pretty decent lottery....
No way I could afford anywhere close to doing this rebuild on my own dime. However I have been so impressed with everything received from PS. I am already sending others here for purchases. The quality of everything is above expectations. I have not done any reviews yet, just because technically it hasn't been installed.

I have been on this forum for several years & I have yet to find anyone out there that offers the service & the friendliness as everyone at pontoonstuff. I have recommended them to everyone I know who is into rebuilding their boats be it a pontoon or other type. Just can't say enough about these people.

As we were heading down the rain just got harder and harder.... Luckily it was only a two hour rain delay. I started working on the other boards while Zach started on the screws. A great tip to come...... The worst part was the damn tar tape, that stuff sucked!!! It took us over 2 hours to scrap off 5 beams.. We are ready to start laying new deck... hopefully this coming Saturday. I did get all the old wiring taken off, the only thing left is the wiring for the engine harness. I hope to reuse the old plastic loom. We still need to replace the transom that started sagging at the end of last year. My bro replaced his trailer bearings I thought his toon looked funny in the middle of the drive. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Heading down again on Saturday, since it is supposed to start raining for the next 3 days I don't want to install carpet. My goal is new wiring harness ran and decking attached. My transom started sagging last year causing the steering to jam up, so I want to remove the old one and bring it home so I can cut the new one and glass it before installing. The one on there now is only 5years old but the previous owner did not glass it.
I was able to reuse all of my wire loom for the Aerator pump, Stern light, and the bow wires! I just need to put the main battery cables of the new harness into the loom still attached to the motor.
I don't want to do the carpet until I know we will have 3-4 days of nice weather!

Well we got the wire all ran, the deck is on, and we at least took measurements for the transom so I can build and fiberglass it here and do a quick switch out the next trip. I was about 15 or so screws short for the deck boards....
![]() One trick we did was drill pilot holes in the wood, then tap in the screws and just zip them in with the electric drill. I had a three man team and this worked great! My step son usually just is a gopher, he was really excited I let him handle a drill, and a hammer on the same day!
Of course we had to dry boat once it was all screwed down. The Dog was a little ticked off we weren't going anywhere!!
We rigged my old cover to try and keep it dry. We'll see how it works.
The girls were supposed to be raking leaves I look over and the were taking a siesta.
