would there be a way of using a tank that you could add/release air from much like a boat lift to raise the bow when needed. If anyone can do it... you can.

Funny you should mention that.  When I put the center log on (years ago) I was convinced that I'd be too high and that I'd hit the bridge.  So over the winter I designed and procured all of the components for a ballast setup (which could also adjust the starboard-port attitude).  I bought wakeboard ballast sacks and a couple of reversible (bi-directional) ballast pumps.  I had boiler plates and gaskets made that would cover the access ports that I was going to put in the logs.... and I was going to stuff the ballast sacks inside.  The pumps could pump water in or out of the sacks, and I could shift water from one side to the other.

Had the whole thing designed.... and all of the components on hand.  But I decided to make one approach at the bridge to see how big the interference was going to be.  Cleared by 3".  Sold everything on eBay....

Embarrassed

get an air bag like they use to recover boats. you can mount it to the bottom or store it some where and pull it out when needed.

Thanks for the good read.  I wanted to double check what you used for the cabin siding material  Did you use the polymax board?  I have a 2002 Party Cruiser 32 with the typical delamination issue and rotted particle board inside..  I have seen fungus growths coming out of joints so Its going to need some TLC..  trying to weigh my options for siding material and thanks!

No... I didn't use the Polymax board.  That appears to be solid HDPE material (perhaps like Starboard or one of the knock-offs).   Great material, but it would be terribly heavy in a full 1" thickness.  I believe some folks have made walls by laminating two thin sheets of this type of material to a foam core.

My walls were made by Parkland Plastics.  Two sheets of Plas-Tex laminated to a white foam core... giving an overall thickness of 1".  In my specific case I wanted the 1" thickness so I could use some of the original channel extrusions and windows.

I love my walls, but I will freely admit that they are not as strong as some of the laminates (aluminum, HDPE, etc..) that others have made.

Well the armada is finally assembled for the season!  The kid's boat, my wife's boat, *my* boat, and the two PWCs that I am responsible for maintaining... but are only used by (young) guests....

Yes... there is still one more boat in the driveway (the ski boat)... but it looks like we're out of room!

The wife says we need a bigger house...  I say that we just need more frontage!  LOL

This is just an unsolicited testimonial for Bob over at Midwest Props in Olathe Kansas.  Somebody here on the forum had recommended them so I cranked off a quick EMAIL and started a dialogue with them regarding my unique prop needs for the `Blocker.  Bob was courteous, professional, timely and knew his stuff.

I had him buy a new Solas prop on my behalf and then bend it (de-pitch) to what we thought was the appropriate value.  I received the customized prop within days (FedEx) and it was absolutely perfect.  We hit the desired WOT RPM right on the head.  I picked up 1-2 MPH, and the efficiency numbers improved as well.

I'm quite pleased and am sending him one of my damaged spares for repair and de-pitch as well.

Based on my experience, I don't think you can go wrong with giving them your business.

I concur.  He fixed up a prop for me, reduced pitch, which got me in the correct RPM range for wot.  I'll use him again.  Thumbs Up

Actually.... that's not a half bad guess!!  I have certainly considered such (and stranger) things.

One more hint before I (hopefully) start putting up progress pictures.  There are two of these (each are 8' long and 23" wide), and in the picture it is "upside down".

Well done!

(P.S.  It's actually a straker rig just for the front ~14' of my "center log" (which is actually made of three separate pieces).  I'm adding it not-so-much for the strake capability, but it will give me about 30lbs per foot of additional bouyancy.)

The list of things that I am working on for this years "upgrade" is not nearly as ambitious as in years past....  but you have to factor-in the fact that I am simultaneously upgrading my daughter's RIB to a "center console" version.  The center console and seat package itself is pretty much "drop-in", but it is going to mandate converting her pull-start tiller Merc 15HP to electric start with remote controls.  I have my local dealer looking into the sanity of modifying the engine, versus just buying a new (appropriate) engine and selling her existing 15HP unit (which probably has less than 20 hours on it).

Anyway.... here's what is in the works:

Upgrading the HDS5 and LSS1 chartplotter/sonar/structure scan rig to a HDS-7 Touch and LSS2.  The HDS-7 is installed (as of yesterday) and is properly talking to all of the peripheral equipment (engine, tank senders, pressure transducers, etc..).  The LSS2 module is installed, but I have to rework the mount for the transducer.

Modifying the "front" center log to increase the buoyancy and give it some "dynamic lift".  The log is removed from the boat and the "strake gizmo" has been fabricated (see previous posts).  Need to get my welder working on this....

Adding two more Group 27 house batteries.  This will bring me to a total of five... or about 550Ah.  I'm doing this to ensure that I can comfortably make it through a 24 hour period of running completely off of the batteries without having to start the engine, generator, or look for shore power.  It will also help me ballast-trim the boat.  These batteries are going in the stern, requiring not only an enclosure, but modifications to the ladder for my top deck.

Went to the Milwaukee boat show a couple of times over the last week.  Some of the new pontoon layouts that they are coming up with are really intriguing.  They are doing some great/cool stuff with bars and entertainment areas.. and in some way I'm envious.  Sadly the new stuff doesn't lend itself to the layout of the `Blocker... and the new boats themselves simply won't work for me and my family, and the level of expectation that we now have for a boats capabilities and amenities!

If you look at the picture of the piece that I had fabricated it has a bit of a "V-chine" to it, so it creates a mild tunnel, and will hopefully give a slight "hard edge" so the bow quits "sliding" when I execute a turn or am docking in a cross wind.  We'll see.

I was looking at some of the bizarre and unique bottom profiles that they are introducing in pontoon logs these days.  There is some pretty exotic stuff out there!
