Dan,

Like Judgepw I am a wood worker and wish I had your skills. That boat is truly a thing of considerable beauty. CONGRATULATIONS!

Thanks for all the compliments guys!  It was a wonderful feeling to have her sitting on the water as the trailer was leaving the ramp.  Sure was a long time coming.

This October will be 12 years since I started the designing.  I actually started construction the following Janruary.  It certainly has been a long time!

My sister made a slide show with audio from my launch day.  I was touched to say the least.  Thought I"d share it with everybody.

Hey All,

Someone here asked to be kept informed of any upcoming magazine articles.  The July issue of Pontoon & Deck Boat (PDB) magazine will have an article about my boat in it.  This issue should become available toward the end of June.

Take Care,

Dan

I"ve been following your trials and progress for about 2 years on this and another forum.  I just had to look again - what a boat!! Maybe I"ll get out your way and see it in person some day.

I just found this thread tonight and have read every word of it. There are no words to express the job you have done. As a retired high school woodworking teacher I thought I knew what skill, craftsmanship and determination were - but I was wrong until tonight. Congratulations on a fantastic project.

His boat is totally home made, somebody has to inspect it for maritime use to obtain a HIN. You"re not suppose to be on the waterways, correct WoodenPontoon

Charles - You"re correct about the inspection.  I actually have already received the HIN from the State last year.  I  need to have the inspection performed in order to get insurance.  I"m not required to have insurance (at least not in Connecticut), but I kinda think its a good idea.

I"m curious to see what kind of value he puts on it.  I spoke to him this afternoon and he briefed me on some of the things that he will looking at.  He seemed most helpful.

Well, I had my survey a week ago. The surveyor loved my boat. He took my application number with him and faxed the report directly to the insurance company for me. They had their copy 3 days before I received my copy. I had insurance as of midnight Thursday, I could not have asked for better service. Both the surveyor and the insurance people (BoatUS) did a fantastic job!!!!!!

It is comforting to know that she is now insured. Hopefully, I"ll never need to use it!

You didn"t say what value he put on it. I"d say at least 70 grand if not 100. After all, its a one of a kind and very unique.

Outstanding work Dan.  Got the insurance.  I agree, it would be a real shame to have to use it.
