Last week, as discussed in my other topic, we got our toon re-launched.  It had been 2+ years since we've been out. Something we have missed dearly.  Everything went like we had never missed any time.  The boat ran perfect.  The fishing wasn't the greatest, but we didn't really care.  It wasn't top priority.  Certainly returning to the ramp without a paddle was.  I -LET- the wife catch the most and biggest fish, so she would be too excited to worry or ask just how much I had spent making this relaunch happen.  It really wasn't too bad.  We had a picnic lunch on the boat back up at the ramp area.  We sat and watched the boat ramp follies.  That's always a hoot.  It sure did rekindle our desire to want to get a place on the lake somewhere.  We have a vision of a house and a shop, both with windows that look out to the lake so if I'm having supper or cutting boards, I can keep sight of the water at all times.

I'll be focusing on more cosmetic things now.  I want to get some LED lighting so we can get back to night fishing, which is what we seem to be most successful with, without getting eaten alive by bugs.  I also want to get the tubes polished and sealed, and I'd like to start on the re-upholstery project.  I have a buddy who does upholstery. His mission this week is to get out to his shop and see how much white material he has on hand and figure out how much we need to order to get it all done.  We just have two different sizes of seats, so were talking about making a batch of one size, then a time later, making the other batch.  I also want to make some custom fitted slip covers that will snap over each seat when not in use.  A little extra protection.  He's done alot of really nice boat work plus his dad has over 50 yrs doing this kind of stuff so I've got a resource of two masters.  I didn't get to make a trip this weekend with my dad, but I will soon.  Just of of the things I want to do while I still have him.

So here's a few pic form trip 1 last week.  I didn't get any from yesterdays trip.   And from one of these pics you can see what I spent most of my time doing.

Yes, she hooked that fish right in the eyeball.  We caught mostly white drum or what most everyone around here calls them gasper goo.  We let everything go back.  I just didn't want to clean any fish.

Looks like we are going to get to make a discovery trip down to the Baytown and Clearlake Texas area this weekend.  We'll be looking for a place we can take the toon and get some salt on it.  We'd like to do some fishing down there but we'll need to be taught by someone who knows the area and the type of fish and what to do before we take the boat with us.

check out fishinglightsetc.com...The halogen lights attract more bait fish than the LED's IMO....I have been night fishing with these lights for years with great results....the green works best for me!!
