I have a question regarding the carpeting that is around the seat bases on my pontoon. It is a 2006 Premier. My seats are vinyl, however the bottom base of the seats are covered in carpet. It is in the area where the under seat lighting is.

I am assuming that there is seat vinyl behind the carpet? They must just glue the carpet to the vinyl? I am thinking about taking the carpet out of my boat and putting in vinyl flooring. If I do so, I would want to the remove the carpeting around the seat bases and just have the vinyl seat material there.

Has anybody pulled the carpeting off around their seat bases? Any advise on the process to switch from carpet to vinyl flooring? Thanks for your input!

The newer pontoon have plastic seat bases, and the older ones had wooden bases. It shouldn't be a problem pulling the carpet off the plastic base, but removing the glue may be a tougher thing to remove. Mineral spirits removes glue pretty well, and there are other products that will do the job too.

I have a 2003 premier and that carpet was just glued on. Came off easy but I replaced with newer carpet.

Thanks for the responses.

On your Premier, was there seat vinyl under the carpet or were the seat bases bare plastic there?
