I was out cleaning the shop last night and I thought I would snap a picture of my carpet roller and share it with every one.  I took an 8" sonic tube and cut ends for it from some left over 3/4" CCA.  I had some frame pieces from an old trampoline laying around, and I ran a tube through the center.  Filled it up with some quick creete, and welded up a handle for it from the other frame pieces.  It works great!  I have not weighed it but I'd guess it weighs +/-  100#.  When you roll carpet or vinyl flooring it's important to not only use some thing heavy but it's "foot print" should be some what small so you get maximum pressure per square inch.

Hey PS Guy. I recently purchased new carpet and seats and helm for my first rebuild. To be honest I had every intention of waiting until spring to begin the transformation but I couldn't wait to get started. I replaced the carpet on a day when the temp peaked at 60 deg F and I happened to be not working. Needless to say I wasn't prepared as I didn't have a carpet roller. As I laid the carpet trying to beat sun down I was trying to figure out a way to improvise. It came to me in a flash. I filled my empty corny keg with water and rolled the carpet as the sun went down. When full it weighs about 60lbs. When not being used to roll carpets it servers as a great way to keep my favorite craft beer cold.

A corny keg is a pressurized container deigned by someone named Corneils that is used to dispense soda. You've probably seen them at a bazaar. They've become popular for dispensing beer. I've since graduated to a sixtel. Similar to the corny keg. Equivalent to a sixth of a barrel of beer. Did I mention pontoon boating? Happy pontoon boating and other boating too! Put the rebuild on hold. But should resume and complete soon.
