I have the style that you can connect battery #1 or #2 or both or OFF.  It never (in the few months I've the boat) worked smoothly and today stopped switching at all (jammed)

I drilled out the 4 hollow rivet type fasteners and pulled everything apart.

What I found was one of the 'stationary contact plates' had raised up a bit, maybe 3/32"  This was enough that when the 'moving contact' came to this ledge it Stopped.

The stationary contact has a stud passing through it that you fasten your battery cable to.  It is encased/formed into the plastic case but I didn't see any indication that it had in deed moved. Nothing was loose. But this was surely the problem.

What I did was use a file to bevel both the leading and trailing edges of both the moveable and stationary contacts then clean them up with some 100 grit abrasive paper.

I decided the easiest way to re mount the switch was drill the holes out to 5/16" then epoxy the case back together.  I cleaned everything with acetone then scuffed it up and applied JB Weld.

I then used 1/4" carriage bolts to fasten the switch back into the boat.

These things are well made from heavy stock.  I found they are available from about $40 to $65
