We have a 1989 Landau with a Force 50hp, and a US Marine control, all of which is 1989. This is our 2nd season and no problems until this past Memorial Weekend. We arrived at our dock space, did a few things the started the boat and let it warm up for about 10 minutes. Unhooked the boat and drove out of the marina past the no wake zone. All of a sudden the alarm went off. I shut the motor down immediately, waited a little bit and turned the ignition on, alarm goes off again, motor is not started, just ignition is is turned to the on position. I did this a couple of times and finally started the motor and everything seemed ok.We didn't go very far, basically back in a cove and spent the day. On the way back the alarm goes off. This time I noticed the tach was stuck on 4,000rpm's. ???? Drove the pontoon back to the marina and tied it back up. Haven't had the opportunity to drive back down to the marina yet BUT, does anyone have any ideas what might be going on??
Thankyou in advance!

We've owned this boat for the 2nd season. It was my understanding that an older gentleman owned the boat prior to the guy we traded with. He had it in a slip in Branson, Mo. Took very good care of it. Had the seats re apholstered and supposedly, had the water pump, impeller redone. I couldnt verify this because the only phone #, I had was a land line which was no good. I even tried upholstery shops in the area to see if the guy had taken the seats to their shop and maybe had a phone number but no luck.
Thing is , the way it was acting, seemed more like an electrical issue and not actually a heat issue. Anyway, I haven't had a chance to drive down to the marina, pull the cover off the console and trace wires to make sure something didn't get wiggled loose. I do know that the time before,we had family members go out. As soon as I sat diwn, I noticed the toggle for the lights was broken and rest of it was hanging back behind the other toggles and gauges. Perhaps this could be the problem ?
I will be down at the boat this weekend and search more. The fact that the tach was stuck on 4 grand leaves me to think it's electric.
Whole Im at it, I'm wanting to remove and replace the US Maring control to the right side of the console, probably have it attached to the fence/railing. I'm not sure if I need to take the control apart or unhook the cables and wiring apart at the motor.??
Any thankyou for your attempts to help me figure this out!

Oh by the way, my daughter, on her pontoon sedan it was peeing but it was more like a spray, as she is used to seeing other motors .
