Looking to check out some new items, and what better way to do it then on a real life actual pontoon boat!  Starting out with a pair of Scratch & Dent tubes I picked up locally, a pile of cross members and bunch of SS bolts.  Here we are laying out the tubes, squaring it all up and bolting down cross members:

You get to pick up scratch and dent locally? Cool. It's hard to find good used ones around here. Watching where this goes.....

Every thing is bolted together with 3/8" SS bolts and serrated flange nuts, just like the OEMs...

In the rear, heavy duty square tube cross members are being used.  Check out the slick 1-piece welded rear sub structure notched for motor clearance.  Here you can also see the transom / fuel tank being prepped for mounting...

Decking all fastened down, seams touch sanded, corners trimmed, and all swept clean.  Tomorrow a new flooring product will be installed.  Here is a shot showing the finished stern:

Does anyone have a source for that style transom with integrated fuel tank? I am sorely tempted to either look for a third log with integrated fuel tank, or a newer transom like the one shown above. Will that transom provide any buoyancy (it is watertight at the seams, I realize the top is open), and I also realize that the weight of fuel will minimize any effects. But my current setup is a non-watertight transom and the wood mount needs replacing..and Im a fan of upgrading when I can!

What are you planning on using for trimming the deck? I am in need of the aluminum edging to finish my deck.

Thanks!

I will use new replacement rub rail and corner caps that I have sourced locally.  I get the same questions all the time:

"Where can I get new xxxxx for my pontoon"?

The answer to that question is simple...shop around!  Honestly, every thing you need to build a pontoon boat is available, for a price.  What people REALLY want to know is:  Where can I get xxxx, cheap and local".  To that I have no answer.  You simply need to hanker down and do a lot of research.  The thing most people don't think about is shipping.  The major components I get asked about the most are Tubes, Center Tubes or Transoms, Railing, and Rub Rail.  It's ALL available, but how bad do you want it?  Shipping on items like this would kill you.  If you want it bad enough, search the corners of the web and I guarantee you will find what you are looking for!  Wink
