Oh, one more thing, the internet lied to me.... the whole dyeing of my top didn't pan out. Not only is the canvas water/dye resistant, my wife is pretty ticked off about the manner in which I made the attempt. Apparently, rit dye is very hard to get out of the bathtub....and our high efficiency washer.... and the tile on the floor. So...... I was encouraged to test out sleeping on the boat tonight

lol.. Im sorry that your misery makes me laugh. Reversion polarity on some things shouldn't matter like lights. Your basically just closing the connection in a loop(circuit). Your dealing with dc current which doesn't reverse polarity like ac does. However electronic equipment you can do some serious damage. I've never reversed polarity on electronics but I would assume you can do some damage. Read this.. It may help you out.

oh yes. I forgot about l.e.d.'s.. They are more like and electrical circuit. Just remember to keep thing separate and hook things up one at a time. I always hook my ground up and then hook my hot up through my switch... Then have the switch in the off position and connect it to myfuse block. If there is a problem you should pop a fuse before and damage is done to equipment. Good luck and as you can see im addicted to PS forum. I have it on my phone and check it every few hours. Please ask any questions. If i cant answer i can surely find out in a short period of time.

So here are some pics of my switches that came with the console.

It already had a harness and I am trying to use everything I can.

Here is what I would start with hooking power to center tab. Then top tab just above center tab to sending unit. Bottom tab to other sending unit. If that doesn't work unplug cent er tab with power and put it at top tab just above center tab and move the wire going from sending unit to the other top tab. If that works then here is what you do.
Center tab to power. (I say that's your light). Top tabs, one comes from power into 1 top tab, one goes out of other top tab to sending unit. Same for bottom.

To clear up what I was saying.... double pole double throw switches are mostly used to reverse polarity like to make car windows roll up & down. So here is a new diagram to help ya out. Sorry if I caused any confusion...

you can hook your lights up the same way to another switch even if it has 6 tabs just use one side of the switch like the fuel switch pic and don't bother hooking nothing to the other side and your golden!

Largebarge,  I would greatly appreciate it if you could walk me thru what each of the 7 posts on these double pole- double throw switches is for?  I have been able to get stuff to work but have disconnected the switch lights (but the power to the connecting devices works) on some of them and one of them needs power to the other pole.... if you have time.

Tell me what your wanting to hook up to the switch and then I can tell you how to hook up everything. But to give you a quick glance and what everything does look at the back of the switch all the posts should have a number beside it. It should follow as this.

7
14
25
36

#7 is a ground for indicator lights on switch
#2 & #5 are from breaker or fuse going to battery
#1 & #3 are controlled by power from #2
#4 & #6 are controlled by power from #5

basicly its two switches in one housing. But again it also matters what items you want to hook to this switch dictates how they get wired up.

I know it seems hard..... but once you wrap your mind around it these type switches will make your life easier because they have so many options. We use them all the time in police cars when up-fitting them. You think boats are hard come to the shop for a day and let me show you the inside of a console of new dodge chargers.....

Big smileI've been busy with the electricity,  after Travis turned on the lightbulb that is hanging over my head I was able to connect everything properly and now everything works as it should on my boat.  Installed all my rod holders, the filet table, lights, stereo, rod storage racks and tonight I am putting the finishing touches on the shelving in my gunwales and painting the starboard side.  Tomorrow, my new Humminbird 598ci HD Si gps/chartplotter fishfinder combo will arrive and then I will be off to the lake to chase fish!  2 months from beginning to end and I couldn't be happier!Clap Big smile

Heya, heck ya I'm good. Been hunting since september and I am now back to piddling with my favorite toy. I had an amazing summer with my toon but now I am headed to springfield to get a center tube with a transom. Just bought a tri toon trailer for it too. I've got about 4 trips lined up so i'm in a rush again! Here's some pics for you.

Let my mom drive the bus when we were down rigging for salmon.  she had a blast!  Added a pic of the new tri-toon trailer too.  Now I have to figure out how to install the center pontoon and then get the boat on the trailer.......

Anyone have a bright idea for me about that?
