As you can see this is how i mounted the armrests that are not support by a railing. I first bolted them to the floor with two bolts, then drilled through the adjacent base and ran an bolt. On the base side i used a left over railing spacer, and on the armrest side i put in a 4x10" 1/2 plywood vertically to give me more support. when all was tighten down it is rather stable.

Fast rebuild.....
It helps that I'm semi retired, have a heated very big garage. And when I start something I don't quit till it's done. Quality parts and service from PS, and a lot of reading of this forum for tips, tricks, and advice. I've never done this type of a restore before but it was really simple.....if it's not aluminum throw it away and start fresh. And I did have help glueing the carpet and attaching the Bimini top. It was a fun project but glad it's over. I'd rather be fishing, golfing, or entertaining friends and family on the toon. I have a big home (as you can see in one of the photos) and over the 4th of July week it will be packed with about 25 family members. When ever my son comes home everyone comes to visit, his sister, cousins, aunts & uncles, nieces and nephews. I hide as much as possible. He has been in Afghanistan for most of the last year so will be glad to see him home for a few weeks. The Toon was fun, now to enjoy it for years to come. ![]() |

I cleaned the rails first with a power washer, then Magic Eraser where necessary.
![]() There not perfect but if anyone points that out, oh well go find another pontoon to take a ride on ![]() |

Well bad news the OLD Force motor got toasted. The starter stuck engaged and fried all the wiring in the engine. Had to get another motor. Bought a new Merc 25, 4 stroke, works great to putt around which is all I want. With just me in it 14 mph, slower loaded, but if I want fast, I have my fishing boat with a 60, or my Checkmate with a 115. The toon is for cruising, drinking beer and listening to music, which now I can with the very quite 4 stroke.

I just noticed the finished product. It looks real good, If just a good cruse is all you need you can't do any better than that lil Merc. You probably have to feel the vibration to tell if its running, you will be the last boat on the lake when gas gets scarce.
Well done ![]() |

Texas is right. I love my Merc 4 stroke 150. You can't hear it at all at idle. Very quiet.

Well it's been a about year now since I started and finished the rebuild project and it's been great. Many a many of trips slowly cruising the chain of lakes this past summer with family and friends. She is now sitting in my friends pole building along with my ski boat, fishing boat, and pair of jet skis while he is crusing the west in his motor home. It's the dead of winter still but already anticipating spring and ice out. The pontoon was really enjoyed this past summer by young and old. But give a teenager a jet ski and there is no comparison they will take the JetSki every time, us old farts prefer the pontoon boat.

I am in the process of rebuilding my 93 Playtime 24' toon and saw your rebuild. I know it was awhile ago., but your steering wheel is the same as on mine. How does the middle (Horn button) black disk attach? Did you pry it off or twist? I would like to know before I try and pry mine off and probably break something I will have a heck of a time replacing. I am replacing my deck and console and will need to remove the steering wheel and cable. Any help is much appreciated. Ray
