Took my boat out today everything worked great with the exception of the steering, the new cable seamed to work in the driveway but today in the water when I turned all the way to the left the cable would come out of the gearbox!!! Is the cable to short???

You did turn it all the way to the right while feeding it in before putting the pins in right?

If I'm remembering right we did, but now that I think about it we were turning the wheel to test it before installing the wheel....I had to get a adapter for the cable since I used my original gearbox and it has a pin in it. I noticed it only gave me the problem when I turned hard left. It's also a lil hard to steer even when not in the water

Well I just fixed the problem, the cable wasn't snapped into the adapter all the way! After I got a good look at it and turned the wheel while I was watching it I relized what was happening. I had to turn the wheel all the way to the right and then turn it jut a tad more and it poped in, then I installed the pin and tested it out!

Glad to see you back on the water Clap  I did the same thing with my steering cable last summer after I did the underskinning. It worked great in the driveway but I had my buddy pull the boat off the trailer while I was parking the truck. He was stuck about 100' off shore yelling about the steering. It was an easy fix but embarassing at the time ! Still can't wait to see your boat with the wrap job !

Thanks Shaun, ya I'm glad I got the steering fixed I was worried for a lil bit. I'm still gonna get the wrap just haven't got the proof just right yet, it's defently gonna make the red on the boat pop and it should really stand out and give it a look like you see on the fancy wakebord boats!!!

I just got home from bass pro shops and I got a few small things for my boat, I got the plug for my trolling motor that mounts in the floor and I'll install it tomorrow. I aslo got a few small brackets for the bimini top (Im building a set of trailer legs) that I needed, and I finally got the cover for my gps. Now that it's flush mounted it needed some protection!

Pretty good fit

I love this look!!!!

Well I've been using my boat pretty much friday-Sunday every weekend so I haven't been doing much work on it! This weekend was extremely windy and we had a few things to do so we stayed away from the lake this weekend...I managed to get a few small things done, like a major cleaning and pressure washing...I've noticed that the vinyl floor seems to hold stuff in it like stains, I tried to clean with soap/ water and a brush and it just didn't cut it so I got the pressure washer and it cleaned it pretty well....I bought some vinyl paint awhile back to clean up the doors I salvaged from my old interior to use on my sink stand. I cleaned them up today and they look brand new here's some pics!

This is before, they are 20 years old and turned a yellowish color

You can see a difference in before and after in these pics

Here's a up close of the paint

All finished up, looks alot newer to me!

This is the stuff I used

My parents also got me a set of the Taylor made dock corner bumper things today when they where at bass pro shops.
I'm going to install them on top of my corner caps to help protect the rub rails some. I also got a few things for my boat from my birthday a few weeks ago, I got some docking lights and I also got one of These in a 10' that I've used once so far and it's awesome...i bought some hoses the other day from lowes, I needed a drain for the cupholders in the console because when I would clean it all the water would drain inside the console so I routed some hose down through the floor and under the boat! I also got some hose for my soon to be livewell, I'm going to try to add one under a seat like mr.diesel did on his 18' he just built! I will hopefully get some work done tomorrow if the weather dosent allow me to go fishing and i'll try and get some pics!

Thanks Rick, I got it at my local autozone. The only bad thing about it was the $9 a can price!!! It worked pretty good so far, you can press on the vinyl and the paint flexes with it and dosent crack. I guess well see how it holds up, if it dosent I can always redo the doors but I couldn't resist this lil project because it's a whole lot cheaper than a upholstery shop!

Ryan, the boat looks great. Glad to see youre getting to use it. Vinyl paint looks great. I've used it on corvette interiors. Also like that anchor stick. would like to get some feedback once you get to use it. Oh one more thing.......   WRAP IT..  WRAP IT... WRAP IT....LOL

Ok I'm stumped on some wiring, I was looking at the radio I have and reading the instructions that are on page 3 of my rebuild and I've got some questions

I know the the white and red jacks on the right is the aux, the black plug on the right is the satellite radio, and the group of wires with the plug on the right is the amp connection for the remote (according to instructions) so that plug is only used if I add a amp?

On the left side the red and white jacks are front and rear outs, now the complicated part. The big plug on the left in my hand, it has 12 wires..8 of the wires are for the speakers (front right/left, rear right/left) After that there is hot and ground and the last two has me stumped as to where they go one is (auto ant) and the other is (back-up-b+) I don't even know what this wire is for????? Any help appreciated.

Auto Ant. would be power for a power antenna. Back up B+ should be the "Memory" wire that holds your radio stations. That would be powered all the time. ANT wire would not be used, unless of course, you have a power antenna on the boat..

The "memory wire" when you say should be powered all the time what would you hook it to to power it? I planned on cutting the big connector off and just wiring up all the wires, do you think this is a bad idea?

would have been nice if you made that 800x600 and of the part in question so it can be seen more clearly but I believe you are referring to the memory (YELLOW) wire. We gave you installation instructions (me and Lando) and its says

The memory wire (yellow) is connected to a permanent + 12V supply.

However I myself do not use it, as I don't care to have it use power all the time to remember radio stations (which is what's its for)

Oh though, on mine, it won't power up without the yellow wire to power, so I hooked it to a stereo switch on my console, so, switch on and it'll power up Wink

I would get a wiring harness adapter for it, rather than cut the plug off. The memory wire needs to be hooked up to whatever wire has power to it all the time (Usually a Red wire or if you have a fuse block, to the hot side).

Where did you buy it? I know Best Buy carries some harnesses, but not sure if they have one for the JBL. Worth a call. Might also try a place that specializes in installs..

Can't say where it was purchased, I got it as a gift I think it came from a flea market...it's missing the metal frame that goes around the unit but I think I can make it work!
