I take it your motor doesn't have the cowling switch, same situation as NH Tooner I believe, see the thread he made just a day or two ago, that'll will be an easier fix, but if the controls are hooked up, why not just tilt it up from them? Oh wait a minute, you said the trim is disconnected (from the wires?)

I have the cowling switch, but all the wiring is disconnected from the console and the battery. If I connect the battery back to the leads will the cowling switch be hot?

Is the motor connected to the battery now? If so the cowling switch should be hot now.

No, I removed the battery when I removed the old seats! I planned on finishing the paint tomorrow so while I'm out there I'll try and connect the battery and see if the cowl switch works!

I would support a new paint job for the trailer ! It would really finish off the rebuild and make it all look better than new. I actually thought about doing mine to make it white to match the my toons. That's great that you have a trailer you can use to park your boat on during the paint job. I would have to figure that out before I can ever get around to that project. Everything is looking good keep up the good work !!!

My cousin has the same size toon as mine, I bought my boat without a trailer and I used his until I found mine on craigslist....the guy that's doing my painting (father in law) is a painter at work.... He said he paints galvanized hand hails all the time and as long as you sue a good wash primer it real sticks good and last really long....it will be the same red and I'd like to add some more LEDs and maybe some diamond plate accents!

Thanks, not exactly sure about the paint. I had my father in law do all the talking at the paint store because he knows alot more about it than me!!!I know it's made by PPE and the preimer is a wash primer but that's about it!

Got some stuff done today, my dad helped me finish up the fence panels where it needed more screws and the aluminum trim that covers the splice. Also got a good start on the helm stand. We built the frame out of the strips of plywood we had cut up awhile back! We didn't mount the top because we gotta drill some holes in the deck for the wiring and we still got to add some wood where the seat pedestal will be mounted to give it some beef to hold on to! We did mount the frame on the boat and while I had it up there I couldn't resist holding some LEDs up there to see what it would look like....also cut the aluminum c channel to dress up the top edge!

We added alot more bracing under it but I didn't get a pic

Ryan,

Your boat is coming along nicely. I sure envy you that nice green grass! I can't wait for spring so we can get our boats back on the water.

Thanks Joe, that green grass is thanks to a fancy irrigation system we installed this past summer and a lil help from the hired lawn guys....they do a good job of weed eating and cleaning the flowerbeds we still do the mowing by the way

Worked some more today on the boat. We mounted some wood under where the captain seat pedestal will be mounted to give it some beef to screw to! We also mounted the top deck of the helm stand for good, and we drilled 3 holes for the wiring and steering cable one in the console one in the stand and one in the floor! Got all my teak wood installed and looking good, tomorrow well grout it and hopefully bolt the console down along with some seats....if all goes well tomorrow there is a good chance we will wrap the sundeck with carpet and get it on the boat, then the gas tank can go in!!! Here's some pics

We also had enough scrap vinyl to cover the bottom frame of the stand

Very nice ,I was waiting to see the wood go down  Wink  I hope you have plenty of blue tape for the next phase of that project ? I know it's alot of work but now you'll have something that really stands out. The finished product looks way better than sheet vinyl with a wood print ! When you fill your gaps I found it best to over fill the seams, then immediately run a putty knife over it to seat it in and clear the excess silicon. Then pull the tape off that seam right after. I tried cutting the excess after it set up, but thought it went alot easier with this method. If you work one row at a time it's easy. Also make sure your out of the sun I learned that the hard way LOL  Lay your tape before you start filling but make sure you lay it in the opposite direction you plan to work in. This way you can pull it as you go with out a big mess. Looking awsome keep it up Clap

Thanks, it's for sure alot of work...I've already grouted it but had poor results so I'm removing all of it tomorrow and will give it another go...problem was the tape was pulling the grout out of the cracks....I guess I let it set to long...good news is it's pretty easy to remove, I guess well see how it goes tomorrow!

Got my grout finished today, I ended up scraping all the other out and giving it another try! The second time looked a thousand times better.

Ignore that big scratch next to the hole, I slipped with the screw driver while removing the grout... I'm glad the console will cover it

Sweet! Thats what I wanted to do on the deck of mine but just couldn't ever make myself spend the money for the wood. wound up going synthetic. Do you mind me asking about what it cost to do this small area?

Looks real good , glad to hear you were able to get the grout to work the second time around. I know it's tricky at first but once you get the hang of it it's easy ! I can tell you that will look even better in a little while. Once the grout dulls a bit to match the sheen of the vinyl ( wood ) it really looks  good !

Thanks, Brian it's not real teak. I wanted the fake plastic stuff like the new boats are using But it was WAY to much... The stuff I used is the same that liquid asset used, it's a vinyl floor made for house floors....he had good luck with his so far so I tried it also...you can buy it at home depot and it's about $50 a box and i think it 24.
