I have great memories of Norfork from the early 70's.  Is it still a good Spring crappie lake?  Caught a ton of them in the float creek area.  There was a free camping park on Rt 62 on the East side.  Camped for as long as two weeks at a time for many years.  I know a bridge was built years ago to replace the ferry.  Is the camp area still there?

Spring is great for crappie. Just have to know where the cover is. Also, the camp area is still there but I am not sure if its free or not.

I am done painting! Well, for a little while anyways. I will still have to do some touch up work on it once I get the boat put back together. I'm sure I will end up scratching the paint at some point reinstalling the fence. We are going to install the fence on Saturday.

Once that is done, I am going to remeasure for furniture fitment. Then I will be going to order the rear benches on Monday. I am getting them built at a local boat shop. They make an all aluminum frame 60" bench for $315. Very light and very durable. I am going to put one on each side of the back of the boat. They are also going to recover my "back-to-back" seats for the front and also my captains chair. It is all coming together now that I got the painting done.

Me and a friend put the fence on yesterday. It is starting to look like a boat again! I managed to get the fence supports on today and one of the gate latches. It'll be next weekend before I can get the roof on. I still have to clean the aluminum on it with sharkhide and clean the underside of the roof so it looks halfway presentable. I don't think I am going to paint it. Well, here are the pictures.

The only problem we encoutered was with the fence bolts from PS. They are phillips drive. It would have taken us half the time if they were hex head. Kept stripping them out. Oh well, live and learn. We are supposed to have bad weather again on Wednesday so maybe that will give me some time to work on installing the steering into the helm.

Drum roll please................................................................................................Got the roof installed, anchor light/nav lights installed and wired up, and also got the swim deck rails on. This thing is starting to look very nice. I won't have my furniture for another 3 weeks so that will give me time to finish cleaning the edge caps and start contemplating the console "cutting". Well, enough words, I'll show ya the pics!

One thing I've noticed, it sure is GRAY ain't it Wink. So are you adding any color to it?  Looks mighty clean looking. You could shine them toons to match the rails. Toons look like they'll be real easy to clean and polish with F7 and S nuvite. Bass would come up to see what that big bait will taste like Tongue

I'm not a real flashy person, so I'm going to stick with the gray. There will be a dive flag decal added to each of the gates but other than that, no pinstriping or flashy racing stripes. This is a 1977 model and I kind of want to keep most of the "old" character to it. Also, I am wayyyy too lazy to polish anything. The lighting was pretty bad on those pictures so I am going to try and snap a few this afternoon. It is a lot of gray but I am honestly going for that "clean" look. Even the seats are a dark charcoal color. It is going to look like a new "old" boat when I am done and I will be very very happy.

Looking good. I have a dive flag decal on mine also with the words "Dive Shack" on it. That Arkansas dive flag on your avatar would look good to but not as good as a LA oneLOL

Hit a brick wall tonight while playing around with the console placement. I wired the boat last fall and at the time was planning on having the console back as far as I could go and placing one bench on the starboard side and one on the port side. I figured I would go ahead and lay wires before I put the deck on. Well time came to order furniture so I figured I might as well check my deck space before spending alllllll that money. After measuring from the side of the console to the fence on each side, I came to the realization that I was not going to have enough room to walk around the console with the benches. So that made me switch my layout to one rear bench spanning the width of the boat. The furniture builder called me today and told me the max depth of the furniture he is building is 25 inches. I got the console placed on the boat to do some visualizing. I grabbed the tape measure and I am going to have to move my console towards the front 50 inches. Then I realized I only left 36 inches of wire on the harness to come up through the boat and plug into the switch panel. URGH....I've got it figured out though. I'm just gonna have to crawl under the boat and move everything forward.

Lesson learned from this; DO NOT WIRE YOUR BOAT UNTIL YOU HAVE A FIRM FURNITURE LAYOUT AND YOU HAVE MEASURED 5 TIMES! Oh and leave plenty of wire to play with!

Got all the wiring moved this evening. Tomorrow I will crawl underneath the boat and clip the wires across the crossmember to the center of the boat. I might also start playing around with the steering wheel, stereo, and switch panel layout. Anyone know what i could use to draw on the vinyl but still be washed in case i mess up? This is going to be my procedure for cutting into the console. Measure, draw, measure, measure, measure, staple, measure, CUT. Anyone have any better methods?

How about a regular grease pencil? little alcohol and rag and it'll wipe right off. Cut small if you have the padded console. I'll let others with that model console guide you, but a small X remove some padding, drill hole. (sounds easy don't it)

Be sure to read how MotoXdog did it on his console (like yours) http://www.pontoonstuff.com/psforum/forum_posts.asp?TID=5363&KW=installing+gauge&PID=46984&title=motoxdog-1980-lowe-20ft-rebuild#46984  towards the bottom of that page
