Rick it is about 6" and as I have said earlier it has made a completely different boat with the third toon. Well worth the 2500.00. Thanks for the help with the pics.

Hey Kartracer, did u get that 3rd log from Bill in MO? I thought I remember seeing that in another post. I am in talks with him right now, actually doing almost same thing you did. Ushaped log with strakes. What size and diameter are your outer logs and what size middle log did you go with? Any changes you wish you did differently?

As you all know I did put a third toon, well being in the hurry I was in and being told by the guy I bought it from that he did test it for leaks I just put it on. BAD MOVE,, It leaks,, It will collect water only when moving, it can sit in the water all day with no leaks but when moving it will collect about 25-30 gals in a 4-5 hour run. I am think of putting a bilge pump with auto switch any pros or cons???? Confused ( not hard to be this way )

Me, I'd just test and locate the leaks and seal it. With the stuff you guys got down there, all you need is all that corrison working from the inside out.

Just find the leaks and weld them. A bildge pump will just buy time. After my strakes were welded on we rushed to the lake for a run and after a day on the water I had 20 gallons between all 3 logs. We went back to the shop aired up the logs and sprayed them with soapy water and just waited. After a few minutes we had huge bubbles showing us where we neede to fix it. It was nothing more than small pin holes where the puddle of weld ended and my buddy pulled the welding rod away. I never would have thought those tiny spots could leak like that but they did. Just air up that log and locate the leaks and mark them. If you don't have someone that can weld for you take it to a shop and if it's all marked and ready to go I'm sure you'll save some money.

I hope your test run will include pic's ??? I sure wish I could make a run to the lake L.O.L. So what exactly does the system keep track of, rpm's and distance traveled ? I'm not familiar with it but it sounds interesting.

It tells fuel useage per hour when running, total amount of fuel on board, total fuel used per trip, total fuel used from last time reset, low fuel alarm.

Also bought Star Bright Snap and Zipper lube WOW great product, snaps were getting hard to remove for cover,,This worked great

I was reading where this might not work with some EFI engines & possibly some diesel engines. Do you know if it will work on a E-TECH 90 or how I can find out?   I'd LOVE to have one of these as I have a real fear about running out of gas because I don't know how much my new E-Tech burns. I only have 4.3 hrs on it but sure plan on putting more on it in 2012.

The fuel flow sensor is built-in on the ETec 90HP, and you don't want to add an external unit.  Use the one in the engine for best results.

Add the NMEA-2000 network and a sensor for speed (GPS puck or paddlewheel) and the I-Command gauges (LMF-200 or LMF-400) can give you your fuel economy information (mpg, gph, etc..).  The GMI-10 and other instruments (like some chartplotters) can give this information also.

If you go the I-Command route you will need to add a memory module for it to keep track of fuel tank level (calculated) and trip/seasonal fuel usage.

Now that the weather finally got good I took the toon out today to play with all the new gadgets I bought over the winter. Fuel flow meter and GPS Navionics Gold marine charts. The flow meter is a great toy. My toon ran 18 MPH at 4.5GPH 4600RPM, 20MPH at 5.5GPH at 5000RPM and 22 MPH at 6.4GPH 5400RPM. What is best for cruising, is it determined by your pocket book. Did not have time to play with GPS.

When I took cover off toon today found mildew on the seats. When we had the Cajun Toon Fest got samples from different companies, had some mildew remover and gave it a try. WOW what a GREAT product!!!

Ronny, how accurate is that Navionics Gold chart in those bayous and marshes? I have their Hotmaps chart and while it is great in the lakes it is sketchy at best in the Louisiana marshes. I'm also running a HB 385ci.

The WHAT'S NEXT has been SOLD !!!! Kathy and I are moving to a motor yacht and will be crusing as many lakes and rivers as we can get to. We will be starting in Orange Beach, Al. this summer and moving to south FL. sometime later.
Thanks to all for all the help on this forum, man you guys are GREAT! Have not met everyone face to face, but feel as through we are personal friends. Sold the toon for more than I had in it, NOT counting labor. So it does pay to build a good product.
Will be checking in from time to time to how everyone is doing.
Stay Safe, Have Fun, And God Bless!!!!!

Well "What's Next" went to her new home today. Watching it leave my driveway was like sending one of my children off to college for the first time. Packing everything that went with the boat, telling all the good times we had and all the little do's and don'ts, about the boat, you would have thought it was a child. I guess looking on the bright side was to see how happy and excited the new owners and there children were. First time boat owners and ready to go.

Was admiring pics of your boat didn't realize it was a Manitou :-) I just bought a 1990 24ft myself and and have done a full restro just waiting for my B/O cushions from PS have all the bases ready to go not due till week of the 29th Cry.
I really like your vinyl decals you had done as my color sceam is almost the same and thinking of printing a picture to show my vinyl guy think it really looks sharp. Have fun this summer keep us update to date on that cruiser you are going to get.
