Homemade aluminum pontoons

   I am excited about my new project. An all aluminum ( for the most part) pontoon houseboat. Her is the situation. I want to make my pontoons in 8 ft sections then add 2 foot caps to front and rear. I want 4 feet of open front and the same for the back. So the enclosure will be 24 feet
Question. Can I make square pontoons ( my only option) that are 2ft x 2ft x2 ft?.?.  Enough bouancy?
