I am re-decking, and liking the idea of vinyl or something easy to clean.  Thinking of Deck Restore by Synta a durable coating product formulated to resurface most wooden and composite decks while providing lasting protection against moisture and the damaging effects of the sun. I would redeck with the recomended 7 ply cca. then coat with this.  Thought is cheaper, I can repaint/repair sections.  I contacted them and they see no problem. any thoughts.

I have vinyl and like it, I only wish I had a darker color. I ace a light grey and it shows some stains that have set in that even a pressure washer won't clean, I feel a dark grey wouldn't show it as bad. I'm pretty sure vinyl is more costly than carpet!

Yea I dont feel the deck restore would be any hotter than vinyl, and it comes in many colors. And I figure I can do a 24ft pontoon deck for about $200, with easy future repairs, unlike sheet vinyl or carpet.

Did some quick online research.  Found that the product is too hot to walk on with bare feet when in direct sunlight (company recommends lightest colors if bare feet use possible).  Also that the surface if put down as recommended may be like walking on rock ( according to one users review).  Just food for thought.  Wink

I like the runner idea, I have a 1984 JC824, with a 8 X 10 hardtop, so the main hot area would be between the front to couches.  I am sure I can buy a 30 or 36 inch wide by 8 or 10 feet runner, and replace it as needed. Also never on the boat all day, its docked with a Mastercraft Ski boat on other sideof the dock.  So always moving on cruises and alot of evening/dusk BEER cruises.
