I bought a 2001 era Lowe pontoon boat. It was kept in the water in a dock prior to me buying it. Having said that, the aluminum pontoons were in sad shape. I used a mild acid aluminum cleaner that is commonly used on wheels and accessories on 18 wheelers. I spayed the cleaner on, then I scrubbed with a red Starbrite scrubbing brush, and then power washed. They came out like brand new!!!! Here is the problem. After putting the boat in the water and using it for the day, the pontoons look tarnished. Not as bad as before I cleaned them, but still bad. I cleaned them again, with the same results after putting it into the lake again. Is there something I am missing? Is there a sealer I can use? What am I missing??
