New marine ab plywood, joints sealed with liquid nails, 2 coats spar varnish. Didn't want water based adhesive, too many bad reviews. Opted for contact cement. Rolled heavy coat of contact cement with no dry time and rolled down carpet. Started at center to 3 feet back then last three feet. Then did the same to front. As the carpet backing is bumpy it only has 30 percent contact with the cement. It sets up and dries readily. It's not going to slide when wet. Should be very waterproof with spar varnish a waterproof coating of contact cement. I sealed fence bolt holes with spar also. Will let you know in 20 years

I did 2 pontoon over the years and never had a problem with the water based glue and my pontoon is on the water from May to October. Well your plywood be able to breath with spar varnish.

Also hit the space bar twice between pictures it makes them easier to see.
