I bought the aluminum paneling because that is what everyone on all the reviews, not on PS, said to buy. I decided that I would buy it from here because I like this place and all the products so far have worked above and beyond what I expected. I guess though there has to be an exception and this paneling is it. I started off with the small sections and everything was fine. I admit it is easy to work with and looks fantastic BUT and this is a big but, it seems way to fragile. After the first few pieces I went back and looked at them and noticed scratches on it. Now I took that to be my fault and even though I was careful I guess I was not careful enough. So from there i really started to use extreme care when doing it but even then we were ending up with scratches and dents that we could not understand where they were coming from. Our work surface was clean and free of debris but still it didn't matter. Ours is the type that slide in so we made sure there was no burrs or anything that could scratch it. On one of the larger rails I tried to bend one in and that was a big mistake. Although the black hides a bunch of the bends it still is noticeable.  I was putting them together on the boat and slipped with the wrench and barely hit it and it dented it and left a scratch. I guess my biggest fear is having people on the boat and the paneling gets kicked or bumped into by accident because if this is any indication it will not last long. Luckily I have plenty left over so I will be able to re[place any damage that might happen.

So with this all said I still plan to use Pontoonstuff.com. I will not let this product determine my thoughts about all the other great stuff I have bought off them. I know one thing is that I could never recommend this product. It just seems way to fragile to be on a pontoon boat. I am very willing to take some of the blame also because maybe I should have been even more careful installing it but to me it seems it needs to be a bit more sturdier. I can't imagine what it is going to look like after a season of teenage kids, dogs and everything else a pontoon boat is going to endure. I will say though that beside the scratches and dents this stuff does make the boat look really good but that is probably the only positive I have for it.

Hi Steve

I'm very sorry about this situation!  Can you send me pictures of the product so I can make sure it's our normal stuff and that we didn't get a batch of something different please?  We do sell a great deal of it and haven't had problem... but maybe that's because no one has bothered to tell us!  This makes me very nervous and I'd like to try and fix the issue.  Please send any images to my personal email, jmyers1165@gmail.com

I'd be happy to give you a full refund for the paneling you have installed since it has not lived up to expectations.  Will you please email me your order number please and the name that was on the credit card, I'll process a refund for you first thing Tuesday after the Holiday!

Thank you for your business.

I will get you some pictures and we can talk about it. Depending on the weather it may not be until wednesday. It does make the boat look great but it just is to light a gauge I guess.

After talking with Jim Myers we have come to an agreement on this. The attention that Jim and his staff give to their customers is truly refreshing in this day and age. After listening to my complaints he is going to make this right which is all that I can ask. I appreciate his quick response and understanding in this matter. When it comes time to buy more stuff for my pontoon this will defintiely be the place I buy from.Clap

Thanks

not wanting to hi-jack a thread but i must agree with stevehue it is to light a gauge material. i to replaced my paneling bent almost every piece, but still fairly happy with results.boat looked much better any way, until last week-end,a small wave hit front panels (have hit much bigger with old paneling). it knocked panel out of railing, rivets held fine. biggest disappointment is that some of the paneling actually ripped, creating some very sharp edges. am gonna repair with left over material.wish i had saved original to put back as it was much heaver stuff.

Fishintube

Send me your ship to address and order number please, I'll send you another roll for repairs if you do not have enough. I'm not sure what to do with this product this is the only thing that we can find that we are able to still ship with Fedex and have it made in us size that is manageable.

The only other option is a giant roll that is 72 inches tall it is much thicker but it has to ship on a semi and so the cost becomes outrageous and you have to own a metal shop basically to work with the stuff!

We sold this for a few years now and have never had problems (that I know of) I am going to check with the manufacturer to see if they lightened up the gauge at all or to see if we could increase slightly??

Thank you all for your feedback one way or another I will try to find a fix for this problem and I apologize for those who've installed it who are having trouble.

True to his word JIM sent replacement paneling material. the new material seems to be better stuff. When holding the newer stuff against the other it is obviously thicker,it is not as easy to bend. It even feels and sounds different when handling. In my opinion it's all around better. You just can't beat the company and their commitment to customer satisfaction!!!!!!.

I have to agree with what was written in this post about the material.  I have a 2005 Fisher 220 Deluxe, and the material that I removed is twice as thick as what I purchased from PS.  I think that is my fault for not doing more research on the thickness that is offered.  I would hope that you start selling the .03 thickness material as this .015 seems too thin.  Just putting this material into the existing channels leaves creases in the metal that you can't get out.  Even on the smallest gate I had to pull the piece I cut out because it had a small crease from installing it.  I have one long piece on my 30" diameter bend that is creased as well and will need replacing.  Very disappointed in this material.  I will be replacing this material with the thicker .03 material.  This is the ONLY thing that I have purchased from Pontoon Stuff that I am disappointed with.
