picked up a new (to me) 21' 95 sunbird fiberglass tri-hull pontoon, put a new deck on and threw on some parts i had lying around the house to try it out for it's first run yesterday. I am using a 25" 1990 johnson 140 with a 15x17 ss prop. I took it out on the intercoastal with heavy chop 2'-4' and it went really well, got it up to 30mph, the tach was malfunctioning so not sure what my RPMs were, I have it fixed now and am going to try again today on the fresh water canal, should be very calm, hoping to get 35mph. now that I like the way it handles waves and broke the 30mph mark I think I am going to pimp this one out, I have a T-Top guy making me a custom aluminum tube fence/railing, not sure about the furniture set up but would like to incorporate a bar and bar stools like on the new South Bays.

That's a pretty interesting " Pontoon " boat!  Is that storage in the center?
Feel free to contact me for help on your project!

yes, there is a ton of room in there too, also might tap into the side toons depending on how I lay out the furniture, the factory set up had a drop down head under the helm. also might cut open the rear to drop the gas tank in. today I am going to get an estimate on a railing/fence similar to how Catamaran Coaches put on theirs.

That thing actualy looks prety cool. I had a chance at buying something similar last year befor I bought what I have an passed it up. If Ican remember right it was very cheap too. Maybe I should have bought it. Should be a great platform to build with. There would be a ton of floatation with that design.

it sits in the water really nice, the intercoastal was about 3-4' on saturday and it handled it pretty good, i would not want to go much choppier than that but it did a lot better than my 25ft toon (24" toons). the boat went 29mph in heavy chop and 31mph on smooth with the johnson 140, had some loss of power issues that i am trying to figure out, once that is taken care of i will take it down to the prop guy to figure out what is the best for this set up (currently it has a 15x17). the boat should be going 35-40mph

well I was hoping to be back out on the water this weekend but the new power bimini came in this week but was missing some parts (hopefully missing parts are on the way) and the new fence came in today but they sent me the wrong color, the paneling was suppose to be black, (so I guess the missing parts for the bimini doesn't matter at this point) this wasn't my dream fence but I am going with it until someone out there makes a nice aftermarket kit, i checked with a few fabricators, 1 was outrageously priced and 2 I submitted plans/ specs and never heard back from them.

I got the console at a place in ft pierce fl called marine liquidators. They buy out factory over runs. Only $200 but I had to do a lot of work to it. There were a bunch of holes for compartments,doors,gauges,etc..that they did not have or have access to. Yes that is a sink, luckily it was a standard size so I was able to pick one up on eBay for $60

I was having someone build me all custom furniture but after recovering a couple of the pieces that I had he has disappeared off the face of the earth. Oh how I love doing business in so. fla.now I either have to find some body new or buy pre made furniture that won't match.

Man that thing is looking good. Have you had it in the water yet. How does the hull perform, and does it have storage in it.

thanks, yes been out a few times, hull feels really good, I have the wrong prop (motor came off a v-hull) I can only get 4000rpm right now @ 30mph with the 15x17, trying to get a hold of a 15x13 - 15x14, the motor is counter rotating so the options are very limited. yes it has 3 large storage compartments down the middle, the sides would make for great storage but I will probably have furniture covering most of the sides. from the factory this boat had a large drop down under the console that had a head in it. have not decided exactly what i want to put on for furniture but i would love to incorporate a bar like the new Southbays have.

got my new e-tech 150 on yesterday and what a difference, very quiet, unbelievable torque/ hole shot, it got up on plane in about 3 seconds and it went 39.5mph @ 5000. I am very happy with it, my mechanic probably won't be so happy because I won't need to see him for the next 6 years (at least for any engine problems)

Wow that is absolutely beautiful. I love that hull. It's different and I like that. I don't like having the same stuff as everyone else. I guess that's why we rebuild these things. Anyone can go buy a boat but for me there is a huge amount of pride and accomplishment that go with building/rebuilding something. That is a beautiful boat and you should be proud. Great work.

thanks, i am really happy with it, we had it out in the ocean and it handled the 2-3' seas great, the bow comes up nice under power. i was really hesitant on buying the new motor but am very glad i did, the $300-$500 every time I went to the mechanic was getting really old. and i really like the idea that if i want 200hp all i need to do is get a new computer.

I got a lot done this week, got the furniture in , swim platforms installed, built the bar, bass tube, fresh water system, and got to take it out for a few hours on Saturday until a big storm came rolling in. also got the diamond plating on and sharkhided, still debating on what to do with the sides, trying to find some cool striping, I priced out wrapping the panels on through to the hull to the water line but I am a little hesitant on spending $2k on something that is only good for maybe 5 years.

All I can say is WOW!!!!!!!! Down here in southeast Texas we see those type hulls but its left open (no fence) center console lean on seat basicly they use them just for fishing that's it

The way you got this one fixed up is really sharp!
