We found this project on an auction earlier this year and felt is would be a worthwhile builder.  It has all the positive stuff we were looking for such as a potty, sink, stove, BBQ grill, upper deck ect...  All the decking is quite sound and the motor, after cleaning the black tar goo out of the carbs and putting a new starter on it runs awesome.  After much consideration, it looks like this is going to be our new perch fishing boat for up north.

The ideas now are to extend the upper deck to the back and make a snap on/velcro tent for overnighting and livewells up front.  Also on the list is gutting a minihome of it's fridge, roof air and maybe the furnace for the downstairs cabin.  A new 4000 watt electric start generator is on it's way and will be installed in the rear port bunk where the batterys went.  Other thoughts are led strip lights both inside and out and maybe a shower in the potty if I can find a shower pan that will work right.
Auction day.

nice seats!  NOT

Clean up begins...

Anyone know where to get trim parts other than Bass Pro?  I went there looking and they said nothing was available for this boat,,, although they'd be happy to show me a new pontoon,,, lol!

It's a `92... same vintage as my Party Cruiser.  You are going to have a difficult time finding any OEM parts for this boat, and you'll get little to no help from Tracker.

Donor boats, eBay, Craigslist, and places like Great Lakes Skipper are going to be your best bet.  You may not find the "exact" thing that you are looking for, but you can usually find something serviceable or "close".

Funny, the more i look at other pontoons and some of the mods people have done, I end up more confused about what to do to this one.  This year it's just getting cleaned up and run a bit but that time will be spent tracking down supplies and figuring out if I want to re-power it with an I/O,, most likely a mercury 5.8 or I do have a merc 200 outboard hanging on my lund baron that I'd like to upgrade.  Both projects will require center log modification as well as larger fuel tanks.

One other thing I've seen others use but I haven't found is a good non-wood replacement set up for the galley.  Anyone have any input on that?

There are a ton of ideas out there for a Party Hut.  Spend some time on this forum and you'll find vast ideas for sure.
Thanks!

Building a new galley setup out of HDPE (Starboard etc.) isn't hard.  The material is easy to work with, and you can use standard wood-working tools.  But it can be pretty dern expensive unless you have a "magic source".

I redid almost the same boat so take a look at my build thread and there should be some similar pain points you can avoid by learning from my process.

My wife and I custom built our galley out of a starboard like material and it is one of my favorite things on the boat that we have done. I think the construction starts about on this page:

Looks like a fun project.

Ok Something2do, First let me say you have done an awesome job with your rebuild!!!  The starboard looks like just the ticket if I can find where to get it.
Also, I like your idea on moving the rear log back to capture the horseshoe area and finding a donor log for up front.  Opening up the rear deck and gaining 10% of the floor space is worth the time and money spent for sure.
The boats going on the water this morning for the first run so I can figure out the CG and balance,,, and run the motor real time rather than in the big blue barrel.
Has anyone used a HF 2500lb winch for an anchor winch?  Just wondering how they hold up, as I have 2 new ones with the wireless remotes and I'm thinking of one on each end mounted upside down under the deck on C channel.

Thank, the boat is a long love for the family and we plan on adding on every year. My advice on first lake runs is to take a trolling motor with you. Old motors have a way of crapping out on you a couple of hundred yards from shore. LOL

These boats run best in the "nose up" position. Sunblocker and a few others have some real good advice and experience on balance and weight distribution so check out their threads before making any final decisions if you can.

...on the Anchor, just remember that anything mounted under the deck is going to be subject to a *inappropriate language not permitted* of a lot of stress with water and waves. Anything under mounted needs to be designed to deflect water. Even only moving at 18 Mph a big wave moving under the boat will tear off anything it comes into contact with and take part of the deck with it too!

Good luck with the test!

Ok.... now for a really dumb question... how much use does the front gate really get? I've spent my life in deep v walleye boats so pontoon ownership is all really new to me. A growing family and a need for an onboard potty is what started this.... (it's a grandpa thing)..lol

I know that there are people that get-by without them.  But so much depends on where and how you dock the boat.

I frequent a lot of bars and restaurants on our lake, and dock at many of my friends piers.. which are of various configurations.  It would be very cumbersome for me to berth the `Blocker without the front gate in many of those situations.

Of course.... I also have an anchor platform extension up there......

I use my front gate a fair amount.  I have a ladder under my deck that I've used for various things including saving a jet skier.  The front gate on mine however gets it's primary use from docking on the beach and entry into the boat while on the trailer.  On my boat, it is the most used gate of the three.
Thanks!

Yeah, it would cause me a lot of grief if I didn't have a front gate when the big girl is on the trailer.  Especially in the winter when she's tented.

I agree on keeping the front gate. We use it quite a bit when the kids are jumping off the roof and constantly climbing the side ladder to get back on. Which reminds me, you shoudl seriously consider moving your roof ladder to the front near the boarding gate if you don't want very wet kiddos constantly running through the middle galley area to climb on the roof.

We also use the front gate for jumping on and off the paddle board and when beaching the boat.

Or come up with a stern boarding ladder so you can sit up front and ignore the little yard-apes completely.....  LOL

Lake test update,,,,  It floats and runs!  The Johnson 115 pushed her at 21mph/gps and ran like a new motor.  Half the gauges work, half don't.  All in all a big stress relief as I was worried about how the motor would test out as I've found out many times the blue barrel test just isn't the same.

I was also glad to see no twist in the deck on cross waves as I've heard is common with well enjoyed pontoons.

Just found a great resource for aluminum that I figured I'd share.  The local semi truck shop can get just about all the different types of aluminum other than castings,,,  sheet, z bar, dim stock, you pretty much name it and they can get it.  My plans to enclose the cabin on my party hut just got a whole lot easier,,,lol.   Best part was when I told the parts guy I was chasing down parts for my pontoon rebuild,,, OMG,,, he loved helping me, lol

Just a small update, different powerplant.  Hope to get her on the water this weekend and see how it does bumping up from a 115 to a 150.

The donor boat was a Crestliner Nordica 18.  It's for sale if anyone is interested.  It's a 79 and the floors bad but the transom and hull are good.
