Hello! I'm new to this site... we just bought our first pontoon boat  a  24ft 1986 suntracker party barge. I just successfulyl peeled ALL of the striping and decals with a blow dryer the other day... sorry I only have a before picture right now!

Now, there's still that thin yellow coat of whatever finish that is over the walls/sides... I'm not sure of the technical term lol You can laugh... I'm new to this! since I'm not sure what the finish is I'm not sure what can go over it...
I  want to know if I should be using paint for aluminum or ?? Whatever this is all over the fencing it is easily nicked as when I was using the heat to lift up the decals a few times I used my fingernail and it nicked the coat of paint down to the aluminum...
I am not going to spend time sanding this down to the aluminum so if I would have to do that then I'll just skip this all together for this year...
One more question: We just bought Toon Brite to clean the pontoons... any tips on using that? I hear even when people follow the directions its difficult to make sure the toons don't turn white or they end up with a completely uneven look
