Hello to all the pontoon rebuilders! This is my first rebuild and Besides doing a lot of reading on Aluminum Corrosion, Decking wiring, Painting...... This is my I don't want to sit in the house all day project. I have decided to alter the normal decking and used Extruded Aluminum Bleacher Planks that I was able to Pick up at a scrap yard. Comments and suggestions will be most welcome. I paid my friend $200 for it . He said that is what the scrap guy would give him.
The previous owner knew nothing of galvanic Corrosion and had 700 lbs of batteries on board grounded to the chassis and never took care of it.

So I have been busy.... Got the welding done. Added some Aluminum Angles in the transom area to reinforce due to new motor weights. I called the company and they said they didn't have any old brochures or pamphlets showing how they used to look. I believe motor sizes back then where limited to a 40 or 50 hp. This is only a 20ft boat. I feel a 75 or 90 would be just right. Clamping the Aluminum Beams where fun once I found the dealer that sells the clips is what they call them. I figured to keep this low maintenance.

3 things to keep in mind when planing for upgrades, especially motors and gas tanks, is weight and balance and insurance.

Yes that is foremost on my mind. Doing a lot of reading on corrosion, wiring, fuel tanks. But for now I am cleaning up the old rails. These are unique to the year and are 33" tall. I have a tall family and friends. So the height will be good. Stripping the old paint off. I will have some more welding to do.

FRUSTRATION!

Does Anyone know how to either restore the company emblem or has a duplicate made?

Well finally got some sun and warm weather to work on the toon. Fixed the railing and got my edging in. I used 2x4 aluminum angle to make up the sides since I wasn't using wood. Carpet is UV stabilized Pool carpet. The reason I wanted to use this is it was inexpensive and I want the water to flow through it. It is made of recycled plastic bottles. I clamped it down and when I put the console and seating in there wont be much left exposed. I made 1/2 in by 3 in solid aluminum shims for the railing to keep moisture down and easy cleaning.

Looking good.  What are the four supports you have the boat on?  I can't tell from the pics but they look interesting.

Home Depot Work Bench. Each is rated for 750lbs. 3000 for four. I got tired of crawling underneath, I have arthritis in my lower back.

Well I have been dealing with the wettest winter yet here in Texas! Cold too. Well front fishing seats are in , swim rails are on, Docking lights and the front Navigation lights on. I have the helm seat all mounted up but I am waiting for My console.

Looks great! Nice job. Exact same size as my Aqua~Patio. I like the tall rail/fence. Fantastic idea for the deck.

Thinking about taking this on as a project as my brother law wants to get rid of his old playcraft. I'd really like to use aluminum flooring but I'm concerned about the noise as I will be using it to fish mostly. I'm trying to find some aluminum planks but having some trouble. Embarrassed I found these aluminum bleacher guys via another forum but I'd really prefer to find something used.
